... in thoughts that circulate in my head. I've been in contact with people from my past - people I thought I've lost, people I thought would have forgotten me.
And its good to hear these familiar voices. But these thoughts - these thoughts - they can make a muckery of things.
Thoughts of what was and what could be - these non-real thoughts.
Imagination has its place... but maybe its place shouldn't involve real people and real world things.
Imagination like that... being too close to paranoia.
Oh these thoughts - these thoughts - they've made messes many a time before.
How to live a life where imagination and letting my mind go rambling and free is one of my sole talents - and banes. Solutions. I need solutions...

| unknown |
[03 Jun 2003|09:31pm] |
One time, I was walking on a street unknown to me. One time, I was headed to nowhere in particular. This street was bright, it was lively. I liked this unknown street very much.
The air was busy with sounds of a city awakened.
It would have been a lovely home, had I been from this unknown street.
I smiled a stranger's smile. I nodded a newcomer's nod.
Those pleasant, unknown people smiled and nodded back. This unknown place, making me feel welcome. This unknown home, doors open.
I could have stayed a long time, there. And the pleasantries and shiny faces.
Always welcome, always eager with a smile. This unknown place, always living with simple passions.
I could have stayed there, and never felt lost. I would have claimed this place an artificial home. A home away from home. A home better than home.
This unknown place, always holding better things than the home I knew. This unknown street - with better people than I've ever met. This air - always sweeter than the air I knew.
This unknown place. I could have stayed here. Had I belonged.

| worst possible version... |
[26 May 2003|10:17pm] |
someone said recently that they could be the worst possible version of themselves. how strange. and true. sometimes. because.
it does feel that way. choices and choices. we make and we don't. and. and.
and we are always left with the option of looking behind at the things we've done. and.
and done enough times with enough energy we can make a case to undermine every decision we've ever made.
in which case. convincing ourselves to stop looking at the mirror telling us what's behind us will help us look at the road in front.
hopefully.

| and changes |
[25 Jan 2003|11:27pm] |
and changes more. ~ A lot of people have left this past week - all in a rush and spontaneously.
My godfather (and his wife) left to go back home to the Philippines - and didn't give their kids and grandkids much notice. They are sad.
One coworker was let go on Wednesday, and another (the only one to work longer in the team than me - the one who taught me what I know) decided to leave for New York. Our four person team is reduced to two. I am sad.
My godchild and his little sister left with their mom last night - after a dispute of some sort with the mom and the dad (my cousin). I miss them both.
~
And things look lonely and things look grey.
~
A lesson I should never forget emerges - don't take any time for granted - time spent with those that matter to you especially so.

| oh ye canada |
[17 Dec 2002|09:20pm] |
I spent Saturday in Vancouver - driving up from Seattle with my friend. ~ It was lovely and clean and very pretty. ~ Okay, I'll admit it - Vancouver was home to some of the most prettiest waitresses and cashiers I've ever seen in my whole life! ~ That was nice. ~ I also saw a Tim Horton's! ~ And I have Canadian coinage now! ~ And I had lunch at this place whose name I can't remember now but all the girls wear black - dress, skirts, pants.
Nice! ~ It was a very enjoyable day in a country I've never visited.
Hopefully I can visit again when the weather gets better!

| bebop time |
[25 Nov 2002|10:56am] |
Hello. Hi all. Hope you all had a good weekend. ~ So. I found out about this thing at this place over by here.
It was cool! . . . Okay, okay, details it is then. ~ Apparently, the Metreon here in the City - (a multiplex theatre with fancy restaurants and game shops and book stores and the like) have this 'Action Theatre' which shows anime movies on the weekends for FREE!
Like all weekend. Like, for free. ~ I found this out from a person I met recently online. I thought she was kidding. But then she said the magic words to get me to go.. Cowboy Bebop.
Cowboy Bebop and all 26 episodes, over both days. In a large screen room. With benches and bean bags and good sounds. For free. ~ So I went, and I conquered. I sat for about 10 whole hours in that room over this weekend.
My butt didn't complain too much. I was too busy digging the whole amazing series again. ~ Happy happy joy joy.
Also, I realized just how many people visit the City.
Lots. ~ I also noticed that the City looks really burgundy in the twilight. Beats me as to why.
~ I also noticed a lot of people wearing blue tonight. Its a sign! ~ And finally... Theory #8001: Maybe, everything is the same. Maybe life is the same for everyone else. Because certainly, the moment is the same for everyone, but its how you see it that matters. Case in point: you either see empty glass and go "aww, its empty" and put it down and feel sorry for its emptiness. Or you see the empty glass and go "its empty." and then fill it up with something. Its the same moment, different eyes. Its the same life, just see it right.
End theory. ~ And have a good Thanksgiving, all!
... see you out there, Space Cowboys!

[03 Nov 2002|10:19pm] |
i have just finished 'the little prince' by antoine de saint-exupery. and it was brilliant.
it is a most wonderful childrens book. it is a most wonderful piece of literature.
the lessons, oh the lessons it imparts.
'anything essential is invisible to they eyes.' and it is. it is. what ever is important can't be seen with our eyes.
the things we 'tame', the things we devote our time, and energy to - the things we hold responsible. that is where we find what is important.
because like the little prince's rose, there are thousands and more just like it. just like people. what seperates your best friend from the stranger standing on the corner of the sidewalk?
nothing but the time, the energy, the effort you've put in ... shared with them.
things invisible to the eyes
~ I won't go through the whole... brilliance of this children's book with you. i'm just sharing a piece of the story. i'm just sharing a wonderful tale.
.... 'one sees clearly only with the heart
~ there are stars to be laughed at in the sky, and roses to be smelled.
i'll be off, keeping an eye out for little princes, while enjoying the sunset.
thank you, thank you rhea for sharing this with me.
you don't have to understand any of this.
just remember that as we live on our own private little worlds the effort to go and visit and share yourself with others is as hard or easy as a planet away.

| dear friend... |
[13 Oct 2002|10:22pm] |
Oh wow.
My weekend started on saturday. I decided to go to the main library to return some books I had borrowed. As I was leaving the subway to head up to the library, this girl calls from behind and asks, "Do you know which exit goes to the Main Library?", looking at the books I was carrying.
I honestly say, "Um, no, not really, but I think this one is it.", pointing to the exit I was headed to. She says, "I'm pretty sure its this one." She points to the other exit.
I say, "You may be right." We walk up the steps, and sure enough, correctness was hers.
It was nice and we exchanged pleasantries. She even smiled big once. Aha! Success - I had accomplished my big task of the day (Making someone smile.) ~ I entered the library a confident man.
I found some interesting science fiction books I wanted to read. But before leaving, I remembered to look for the book that was so far eluding me and my library tracking skills.
But lo and behold - I found it under Teen Fiction - "the perks of being a wallflower" by stephen chbosky. I read the first chapter right then and there. ~ I decided to continue reading at Golden Gate park.
On the bus ride there, the girl sitting next to me saw the book and said how good it was. I said I'd read the first chapter and I agree on how good it was. ~ We both agreed this was a great book.
Before leaving the bus, she smiled real big at me too. ~ I was more than a sucessful person on Saturday - I was an overachiever!
At the park, the drumming people had moved closer to the playground (since the Jazz Festival was still in construction - gr to them).
And I saw some people dancing along with the drumming people (basically - a collection of people who have bongoes or any other beat-inducing instrument just congregate. and beat. and join in. and draw people.) and make some dance.
and there was this girl. who was lithe. and fluid. and barefoot. and she danced on the cement walkway. and she danced onto the grass by the trees. she danced in the open spaces, moving away from the people. she danced back.
and thing was - was that she was dancing for herself. with the music. not for the people.
it was so simple it was amazing. ~ i finished the book just now. wow. wow. wow.
there are so many things about this book I could talk about. but i'm alone so that would be slightly weird. so i'm writing this, so I remember just how important it is to remember what I read about in the book.
and its that word - 'participate'.
and its that important lesson - the most important lesson i could ever learn - 'share you feelings and yourself with others. doing what you think would make the other person happy isn't loving them. being yourself when you are around them is loving them.'
and that if i do that - then maybe - then maybe i could feel infinite too. ~ oh wow.
i learned so many important things.
also important lesson: i should start now.
good night be well take care and celebrate all.

[07 Oct 2002|07:10pm] |
Aha!
I found my files of some games I've written.
Bad Libs! - javascript fun (the third one might be the best - if you are short on time)! and Battleship - a java applet game (wait for download and applet loading - a few seconds) and the instructions would help out if you are unfamiliar with the game.
Comments appreciated! :P

i really need to find better entry materials. in any case... ~ i just received the new sleater kinney album. since they are my most favorite band - i am clearly excited about listening to them in my drive to work tomorrow. ~ i'm listening to sparta right now. which came from the band 'at the drive-in'. which was another great band.
i am planning on visiting my friend in seattle in december. and maybe do stuff there and vancouver. finally - a new country for me to set foot in.
my plans of worldly travels and rumminations is sloooowly coming to fruition. ~ oh. and this is the filler (or meat) of the entry.
Enjoy the weekend all! Celebrate yourself - every day.
SEX SCIENCE FACTS
Did you know that you can tell from the skin whether a person is sexually active or not?
1. Sex is a beauty treatment. Scientific tests find that when women make love they produce amounts of the hormone estrogen, which makes hair shine and skin smooth.
2. Gentle, relaxed lovemaking reduces your chances of suffering dermatitis, skin rashes and blemishes. The sweat produced cleanses the pores and makes your skin glow.
3. Lovemaking can burn up those calories you piled on during that romantic dinner.
4. Sex is one of the safest sports you can take up. It stretches and tones up just about every muscle in the body. It's more enjoyable than swimming 20 laps, and you don't need special sneakers!
5. Sex is an instant cure for mild depression. It releases endorphins into the bloodstream, producing a sense of euphoria and leaving you with a feeling of well-being.
6. The more sex you have, the more you will be offered. The sexually active body gives off greater quantities of chemicals called pheromones. These subtle sex perfumes drive the opposite sex crazy!
7. Sex is the safest tranquilizer in the world. IT IS 10 TIMES MORE EFFECTIVE THAN VALIUM.
8. Kissing each day will keep the dentist away. Kissing encourages saliva to wash food from the teeth and lowers the level of the acid that causes decay, preventing plaque build-up.
9. Sex actually relieves headaches. A lovemaking session can release the tension that restricts blood vessels in the brain.
10. A lot of lovemaking can unblock a stuffy nose. Sex is a natural antihistamine. It can help combat asthma and hay fever.

[24 Sep 2002|01:07pm] |
I have to resort to using emails I get for entries now. For shame.
Hope everyone is well. ~ I think my plans for going to Seattle this winter are solidifying nicely. Muahahaha.
Now I just need to find ways to fit in some good traveling before then - you know, to keep me from going crazy here at work.
I am actually now thinking about drawing some comics. Hopefully, soon, I hope to be actually go beyond the 'thinking' stage into the 'trying' and 'doing' stage. ~ Oh, and here goes the randomly funny facts.
DID YOU KNOW..... If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee. (Hardly seems worth it.) If you farted consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb. (Now that's more like it!) The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to the body to squirt blood 30 feet. (O.M.G.!) A pig's orgasm lasts 30 minutes. (In my next life, I want to be a pig.) A cockroach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death. (Creepy.) (I'm still not over the pig.) Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour. (Do not try this at home...... maybe at work.) The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body. The female initiates sex by ripping the male's head off. ("Honey, I'm home. What the....?!") The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumping the length of a football field. (30 minutes... lucky pig... can you imagine??) The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds. (What could be so tasty on the bottom of a pond?) Some lions mate over 50 times a day. (I still want to be a pig in my next life...quality over quantity) Butterflies taste with their feet. (Something I always wanted to know.) The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue. (Hmmmmmm........) Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people. (If you're ambidextrous, do you split the difference?) Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump. (OK, so that would be a good thing....) A cat's urine glows under a black light. (I wonder who was paid to figure that out?) An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain. (I know some people like that.) Starfish have no brains. (I know some people like that too.) Polar bears are left-handed. (If they switch, they'll live a lot longer.) Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure. (What about that pig??)

I've got a new icon. Woohoo! I feel more livejournalist by the second.
Much thank you's for corie of http://corie.doublethinker.com for letting me use one of her images. She is a great artist! Buy a shirt! ~ I noticed that to make a friend (or even just reader) here - you must go first find a person that you'd like to know more, and then be really persistant about remembering this person's name (or hope they visit you).
Interesting. Its almost so much like real life that it is almost scary. :-O! ~ I'm learning more and more. Yay for me.
Yay to all of you too!

| end of the week |
[23 Aug 2002|08:04pm] |
Its the end of the week. I'm glad, I'm glad... ~ For the first time in my life I realize the staggering weight of adulthood.
(Well, except for perhaps having a child and a wife...) ~ The details and such as new to me: car payments? insurance? salesmen? negotiating? scheduling? ~ Life wasn't like this on the Muppet Babies. ~ Then again, there might be a reason why the Nanny didn't have a face.
The stress of nearly a dozen children probably gave her a face of a 200 year old woman.

| monday |
[19 Aug 2002|09:24am] |
I really don't like being an adult. Such is the life of forms and papers and imaginary legalities feigning importance. * So this is why I've been why I've been trying to avoid it for so long...
...
Getting car insurance is hellish. Everything is hellish. Everyone is a salesman. Everyone.
I don't want to be persuaded to buy anything.
There must be a better way to live than to be convincing people of untrue things.
...
And to think I wanted to be a journalist growing up.

|
| sunday |
[18 Aug 2002|07:00am] |
I got a car. Nissan Altima. * But man, I'm tired.
Buying expensive stuff is too much work.
...
I'll start with simpler things again.
